| New
and Full Moon Homas
Yajnas or Homas are fire ceremonies used to communicate
with deities, gurus, or mahasiddhas via the agency of
Agni, the Lord of Fire. During our new and full moon
homas, offerings of ghee, medicinal herbs, flowers,
fruit, and mantras are made. On rainy days, manasika
(in the mind) puja is performed indoors and the homa
is visualized and mantras are alone offered. View ongoing
Schedule of Homas.
New Moon Homa
The power of the dark moon is utilized to strengthen
resolutions symbolized by the tying of rakshabandha
(red strings tied 3 times around the wrist with the
knot at bramha nadi). These resolutions are made to
and reaffirm practitioners' commitment to their dharmic
path.
Full Moon Homa
This self-less ceremony is to harness the healing strength
of a full moon and offer it for friends and family who
are experiencing ill physical or mental health or are
recently deceased.
Cost: Free. Donations of flowers,
sweet foods (fruits and natural baked goods), or firewood,
are always appreciated. Monetary donations for other
homa supplies such as oil for lamps, rakshabandha strings,
incense, ghee, etc. are also welcome.
